The Making of A Complete Disciple
How to Become a Christian or Why Christianity is the Best Answer to Life
There are three questions that we believe all people should ask and be able to answer correctly.
These three questions are:
Let’s consider each question.
Where did you come from?
There are two possible answers:
- The evolutionist answer You are a product of slime plus time
- The Biblical creationists answer You were created by God.
If your answer is number one then we can't offer you any hope because who knows what will happen next. How sad to have no hope, no assurance. No person of this belief system has come back from the dead to tell what is on the other side. The now life is all there is.
If your answer is number two, then it seems to us to make sense that a God who created man would also be a God who would communicate with His creation. That is exactly what He has done. He has done this in two particular ways. One, He has given us a written word we call the Bible.
- All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.
2 Timothy 3:16
Second He has sent His own Son (Jesus Christ) to show us the way to this loving creator God.
- For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:16
So our answer is God created you on purpose and for a purpose.
Now let us consider the second question.
What are you doing here?
Is there a reason for your existence? Surely there is more to life than work, three meals, sleep and then do it all over again the next day. Something inside you says there is a reason for you to be here. Surely by now you have discovered that living just for self is far too shallow a reason to live. What are you doing that is truly important? What kind of a difference for good, righteousness, and justice are you making in life? What are you living for that is worth dying for?
We believe God placed you here for a purpose. Your purpose is to get to know God and to enjoy His presence. Out of this relationship will grow a deep unchangeable desire to follow God and serve Him as a dear child of His. We believe God created you with a destiny written out for you before you were born and God wants you to discover what that is. When you do, you will know why you are on this planet and your life will have true meaning.
- I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them. Psalm 139:14-16
We believe God has a wonderful plan for you. You have great value. You are here to do something special that only you can do. That is why God created you. Open your heart to this loving heavenly Father and He will help you see your destiny.
Now let us consider the third question.
Where are you going?
There are three possible answers.:
- No where. You exist now and that is it. You die and you are no more.
- You are reincarnated and circle back through life many, many times.
- You were created by God and to God you will return.
If you believe numbers one or two, then what are you basing your belief on? What you heard someone say? Some book you read? Because some one you admire believes that way? In other words, your answer is based on what your own mind has thought up or what someone else has thought up for you. Is there a possibility you have been deceived?
We believe the third answer is correct. Listen to the Bible:
- Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, And the spirit will return to God who gave it.
Ecclesiastes 12:7
But what happens when a person’s soul returns to God? He must face the judgment of God for what he has done while on earth.
- And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.
Hebrews 9:27
At the judgment it will be determined if a person spends eternity in Heaven with this loving creator God or in an eternal Hell separated from God forever.
- And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
Matthew 25:46 - Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 “and come forththose who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.
John 5:28-29
You were created by God and you will return to God. In what standing will you stand before Him? You need a correct answer!
A final question a person needs to ask is
What does Jesus Christ and becoming a Christian have to do with all of this?
The answer to this is found in the fact that man has sinned and lost his way to God.
- For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23
In this sinful state, man recognizes he needs help. We have all experienced the fact that too many things keep messing up in life. I mess up. You mess up. They mess up. We all mess up. Who can help us? Jesus Christ came to show us the way.
- Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
John 14:6
Not only did He come to show us the way; he also came to take our sins away.
- For He (God) made Him (Christ) who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
2 Corinthians 5:21 - And All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him (Christ) the iniquity of us all.
Isaiah 53:6
Truly God does love us and has demonstrated His great love for us.
- But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8 - And In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.
1 John 4:9
The Bible makes it clear that Jesus Christ has been sent by God the Father to show you the way to God. To become a Christian is to become a follower of Christ. You become a follower of Christ by believing in Him and making Him Lord of your life.
- that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Romans 10:9-10 - Leading us to for whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.
Romans 10:13
Therefore it is simple to become a Christian.
- Confess your need of God’s help in your life.
- Admit you are a sinner.
- Ask Jesus Christ to come into your life to be your Lord and Savior. When you do you will be saved from your sin and begin a new life in Christ.
- Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17
If you want to become a Christian, then pray a simple prayer right now confessing your sins and asking Christ to come into your life as your Lord. He will save you right now. He will not refuse your sincere prayer.
- All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.
John 6:37 “ - Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
Revelation 3:20
Won’t you pray that prayer right now?
God loves you so very much and Jesus Christ is anxiously waiting to come into your life.
